I cannot believe it is 2012 already?! The off-season has flown by which is crazy because it was quite a bit longer than normal. This is definitely the longest time I have had off from any kind of serious training in over 3 years. Honestly… it’s been great to spend some quality weekends with my husband, see my friends and family, catch up on house stuff and just really relax and unwind. I managed to paint our spare bedroom which, if you saw what it looked like prior to the painting, you would understand what a project that was. My husband and I continued our brewing and made 2 beers, an oatmeal stout (Haulin’ Oats) and a holiday beer (Sandy Claws), which both turned out pretty amazing. We both celebrated our birthdays for extended periods of time and enjoyed Xmas with our families. I made it to a Flyers game!!!! We spent an awesome weekend in one of our favorite places, Rehoboth Beach, DE where I ran a half marathon (ok, so I couldn’t totally get away from training!) but we still had time to hang out at Dogfish Head and Cultured Pearl (one of my favorite sushi restaurants). The whole town was decorated for Christmas and it was fun just to walk around and enjoy some holiday spirit. I was also very excited to get my USAT Level 1 coaching certificate, which was a lot more time consuming than I expected but totally worth it.

And with that, 2012 has arrived. I must admit, I’m a little concerned about my current fitness thanks to my extended time off but I know it will come around (I just hope sooner rather than later!) and I’m sure I’ll appreciate this break later in the season. I did spend plenty of time in the off-season reflecting on 2011 and planning for 2012. I am more than ready to get things started!!!! 2011 was a good year for me but I know I am capable of some much more. I have made my resolutions and I am ready to get things started. Happy New Year to all!
