My training slump Minimize

I’m not going to lie…it’s been a rough couple of weeks. I haven’t experienced this kind of a training slump in quite a while. Who knows what the reason is (the extreme heat wave, post-training break shock, fatigue, illness, being extra busy at work, all of the above…). There are many reasons I can come up with and like any good triathlete I continue to obsess.   I thought doing a fun local sprint last weekend would help pull me out of this slump but a flat tire in transition ended my day early and left me even more frustrated. Somewhere in the back of my mind I realize this will end soon (or is it my wishful thinking?) and I know continuing to dwell on it won’t help things. However, it has been extremely frustrated to struggle through so many workouts. Coach and I have chatted, reasons have been discussed, adjustments have been made, and all my fingers have been crossed for some positive changes. A couple decent workouts is all I’m asking for this week and maybe even a good race this weekend at SheRox. Keep your fingers crossed for me too-I need all the positive energy I can get!

Hey Heather! Hope the slump ends soon - I'm sure it will. I think we are all bound to have them and then when you are out of it you will be so much more happy on the other side! :) Good luck at SheRox - what a fun race to get you back to your old self!

I am sending you MAJOR positive energy right now!!! The good thing about hitting the bottom is that there is nowhere to go but up. Heh-heh-heh. :)

Oh yeah! Here's another one: "Everything is Ok in the end. If it's not ok, it's not the end." This one always makes me smile.

You are one tough chickie-poo. I know how hard working you are -- hang in there girl, things will turn around. I don't want to sound like a fortune cookie, but I know you are going to *pop* back up. ;)

I often think of the Australian camp -- I LOVED that camp!!! It was such a great mix of people!!! Hopefully our paths will cross again one day! That would be such a hoot!!! :) :)

Good luck this weekend! My fingers and toes are crossed for you! :)

Hi Heather! I was racked next to you at SheRox today and I am in the middle of my own slump. Training for IMFL. I think the heat is a major factor, don't discount it. It takes all the fun out of the training day, ya know. Anyway, it was a thrill to see you race today. People with talent like yours continue to inspire mere mortals like me at every race. May you have many successful ahead of you!

Hey Heather!! Your slump will end soon, if it hasn't already - maybe the win at SHE ROX did it? I hope so! You know, I think a lot of athletes are struggling this summer b/c of the excessive heat and humidity - we all feel sooo slow! Can you imagine always living like this year round? Eeks? :)) Hang in there and keep on trucking along....and if that doesn't help - chocolate cures all ! :)) Good luck!
