When I was initially asked by Dan, the local Zoot rep, to represent Zoot at Danzeisen and Quigley’s Triathlon Night I had no idea what I was getting myself into. Making an appearance turned into giving a presentation, which turned into giving a presentation in front of 100+ triathletes. Ahhh! It had been a while since I had given a talk in front of such a big group of people. Not that it ever crossed my mind to say no. Both Dan and Zoot have been great to me and I’m always happy to support them (plus, I love triathlon events!). D&Q bike store is in Cherry Hill, NJ and about 45min from home. I hadn’t been to D&Q before but I was instantly impressed. D&Q is the biggest bike store I have ever been in and is a triathlete’s dream. They have everything you could ever need and tons of varying selections. The event was catered with everything from sandwiches to sushi, drinks (wine, beer, soda, water), tons of give-aways, and an in-house photographer roaming around taking pictures. The group of athletes who attended the event were mostly beginner triathletes and I had decided to talk about triathlon training tips. As much as I like to talk triathlon (I’m often accused of talking about it too much), I was pretty intimidated talking in front of such a big group. It do go pretty well though I think. I did show everyone my secret speedy way of getting on compression socks after all. No one fell asleep (at least that I saw anyway!) and I got lots of questions afterwards. I was glad to meet the new Zoot rep (also named Dan) and Marita, the event organizer. If you live in the area I would definitely check out D&Q, www.dandq.com.
