I can’t believe it’s been a whole month since my last blog.  The last few weeks seem like a blur even though not much has been going on.  After a fun filled weekend in Augusta with my family and friends, although unfortunately not a fun filled race, I came home and made a last minute decision to do a small local sprint triathlon with some friends.  It did take quite a bit of persuasion from them since I was pretty burnt out both mentally and physically (as was my husband who adamantly refused to go to another triathlon in the year 2009).  I however, couldn’t resist a fun race with friends.  Ever since I turned pro the racing has been so much more serious.  Don’t get me wrong, I love every minute of it, but I don’t get as many opportunities to just jump in a race without much training, to be surrounded by friends, and to not really be concerned with the result.  I lined up for the race with no nerves at all and I just raced hard and had fun.  Since then my motivation has basically disappeared.  Technically it IS off season.  My coach has tried to psych me up for a running race in the fall before I take a break from training but I just can’t get excited about it (sorry coach!).  We’ll see what happens…  In the meantime I’m having fun catching up with friends and tomorrow I am off to NYC to see my BFF Kait who I haven’t seen in over a year.  The last time I saw her it was at Age Group Nationals in Portland (she happens to live there) and her car got towed from the race site and it cost her like $300 to get it back.  So much for free spectating!  Anyway, I’ve been forgiven and with one of her rare (and short) appearances on the East Coast I’m going to get to see her for a few hours.  It will be worth it though.  Plus, I’m sure my husband and I can find a few fun things to do in NYC on our own :)
