TIS THE SEASON
By Heather Leiggi on 12/9/2008 9:30 AM
Well, it definitely feels like Christmas outside. We got a nice little dusting of snow this weekend in Philadelphia and it is COLD, really cold! It also feels like Christmas inside too. My husband and I got our tree up and decorated last night and we had so much fun doing it!  We always make a mini party (you know I love to celebrate!). We drank wine, had an amazing assortment of cheeses, bread, seafood, and listened to Christmas music all night. We love pulling our ornaments out because they hold so many memories and it’s re-living our life. We buy at least one ornament each year, something that holds significance for us for that year. We have an ornament from the year we got married, a glass sushi roll and chopsticks from a trip to the Japanese Gardens in Portland, OR, and a big glass ball made from ash from Mt. St. Helen&a ...

Post-Birthday depression
By Heather Leiggi on 12/1/2008 12:20 AM
It’s so sad when all the fun is over but I guess it’s time to get back to reality.  I had so much fun celebrating my birthday and it was everything I had hoped it would be. My husband took me out to some great restaurants and bought me awesome gifts, I ate more sushi than you can imagine with my family and I had a great time staying out late with all my friends. I don’t really get enough time to spend with everyone during the racing season anyway so this is a perfect excuse. Unfortunately now both my birthday and Thanksgiving are over and I need to find something else to get me excited… back to training! I now feel perfectly fat and out of shape which is just enough to motivate me to get back at it. And, in all my enthusiasm over next years’ season, I’ve convinced my husband to get bac ...

THREE MORE DAYS!!!!
By Heather Leiggi on 11/21/2008 4:39 PM
3 more days until my favorite day of the year, my birthday! I actually love this whole time between Thanksgiving and New Years. I love holidays and love to celebrate things. My husband and I are always looking for something to celebrate. It makes life more fun. And of course, the biggest celebration of the year is my birthday. I’ve tried to get my husband into enjoying his birthday as much as I do mine but he’s just not that into it. What did we do for his birthday this year? Stayed home, ate pizza, drank wine, and watched a scary movie which I only agreed to watch because it was his birthday (I hate scary movies!). Much unlike my husband’s birthday, my celebrations are starting tonight (my official birthday is Monday) and who knows when they will end.  You may be wondering what I have in ...

Off-season
By Heather Leiggi on 11/18/2008 12:09 AM
I have to say that I absolutely love off-season. One week into my official off-season and I am having a blast. It started with a weekend of parties. My triathlon club had their end of the season party and a friend got married. It was great to be able to stay up late, have a few drinks, and dance like crazy without worrying about training. The weekend ended with me painting a room in my house. It’s amazing all the stuff I can get done in a weekend when I’m not working out. My body has finally stopped aching from the long season and I actually feel like I can get through a day without needing a nap. I know in about one more week I’ll be going crazy and dying to get out and train and I'm already looking forward to that first run. It’ll seem a little tougher than before but there’s ...

Finally
By Heather Leiggi on 11/14/2008 2:15 PM

What better way to spend some time during off season than to start a blog.  I've been considering it for a while and finally decided I would give it a try.  We'll see if I'm any good at keeping up with it. I'm not feeling very confident about it but we'll see what happens, maybe I'll surprise myself.
